| Description | Many folks want to use Kafka (instead of MQTT) for OPC UA PubSub, although until now no protocol mapping exists. For example, BMW use it and the Open Group's OSDU project want to use it, too. It should be relatively straightforward to add this and perhaps deprecate AMQP in the process? | ||||

2024-04-30 - We discussed describing how to use Kafka as the broker in a generic way that could be applied to other technologies in a similar way. It was not requested to configure a Kafka connection using the PubSub info model, so there really would not be much to Profile or describe with “shalls” in a spec. Matthias suggested this could be like the UA to COM mapping in Client/Server where we describe how to do it in an annex, but nothing is normative. |
